ghosts, ghosts, where are you?

Not at the Waitomo Caves Hotel it seems. Despite our best efforts to summon a ghost or two while soaking up the shabby-chic, old-world charm of the Hotel, not a single spirit felt the desire to pay us a visit. We had one or two odd moments: I experienced a chilly feeling in my foot and there was a slight movement of one of our trigger objects, but nothing that we could confidently declare was paranormal. We read lots of ghost stories and had a lovely time all the same and now that we're safely home, we've stowed the ghost-kit away for another spooky occasion.

We were chatting about ghosts at work, as you do, and one of the ladies I work with said she used to work at Waitomo Hotel, and despite not believing in ghosts before she had many experiences with them in her 2+ yrs there. Including chatting to a guest as they walked side by side up the hall then he said good night and walked through a CLOSED DOOR! She said stuff happened all the time but they weren't allowed to talk about it.
